Wood is Green
Photo synthesis is environmentally the safest way to harness energy on Planet earth. Primarily, our everyday energy needs are met by combustion of mineral energy, like petroleum & coal, which release carbon that has been terrestrially locked up for millions of years - that's what causes global warming. So every time you use your electric heater powered by mineral energy, keep in mind that you are adding CO2 to the atmosphere.
On the other hand, Wood and all forms of photo synthesized energy are carbon neutral, which means that they take carbon from the atmosphere and release the same amount back into the atmosphere, whether one burns it or lets it rot. All wood & organic cellulose matter has a lifespan, so burning it does not increase the release of carbon in the atmosphere. Don't burn it and it will decompose and release the same amount of carbon.
What about renewables like Solar, Hydro & Wind? First point to appreciate is that all three are powered by the Sun or the photon particles that the Sun radiates. Like photo synthesis, all three forms are environmentally beneficial, yet environmental damage occurs in their harnessing, storage & transmission. For instance, building solar panels, solar thermals, hydro dams and windmills entail considerable energy, steel, plastic, cement and sterilization of large land tracts. Harnessing renewable energy, indeed, has a big-foot sized carbon footprint. Storage and transport of renewable energy is even more problematic - consider lead batteries, huge reservoirs, transmission grids and you will get the picture. Overall, in terms of carbon footprint, we imagine (we are not scientists here, just commonsensical, we hope!) renewables are better than mineral energy. But photosynthesis as a source of harnessing energy and storing it in the form of wood/cellulose is truly a win-win energy source.
Makes one wonder, why humanity is not using more wood energy. Maybe there's not enough space to grow enough trees to power our energy needs OR does the sustainable cycle take too long to implement? Comparatively, mineral energy is immediate - dig it and burn it.
There's one problem with burning wood - it releases smoke particles that cause smog. Clean burn stove & fireplace insert designs have mitigated this problem to an environmentally safe extent. Hence our products are certified* for use in urban centers in Europe, USA, New Zealand & Australia and our Stoves are also DEFRA certified enabling them to be legally used in smoke exempt areas.

* CE Tested & Approved Europe EN13240 is a stringent Europe & Scandinavian-wide Efficiency Standard. It is illegal to sell or install a stove anywhere in Europe or Scandinavia without the EN13240 Approval. All the best stove & fireplace insert manufacturers have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars developing their stoves to achieve the standard and having them certified. All our stoves are EN13240 Certified guaranteeing you a very high efficiency rate and the assurance that your stove has been made by a reputable, established manufacturer.
